Sculpture coming off the pedestal is the biggest thing that happened in the history of sculpture in the 20th century.
Once it is off the pedestal, you no longer look at the object apart from the space you’re in, it is in the same behavioral space. You have to deal with it, not as a kind of icon of worship or something removed from you, but in its relation to time and space.
